Curiosity takes it’s first Laser test. ChemCam uses what scientists call laser-induced spectroscopy, a technique which is used in cancer detection, nuclear reactors and on the ocean floor. The Laser generates a flash of ionized plasma at a target, emitting light which gets read through a telescope and different chemical elements show up as different wavelengths determining the composition. Heres and example
